Hagl / hail is Maiken Stenes most recent total-installation, opening at Stavanger Museum June 20th, 2024.
Hagl is the first room in a wide spanning group exhibition “MittStavanger”, that combines contemporary artistic narratives with linear historical story telling into unique custom built time capsules that mark 900 years of city development.
The installation HAGL incorporates a number of historical objects from the museums collection. It consists of a theatrical build up of a forest, painted with ink on paper and strengthened by a web of wooden sticks. The walls are covered in a large painting on textile.
Historical objects are the Årdal Crusifix, a skeleton, a stone head and a baptismal font.
Installed by Hipkiss & Stene. Music/soundwork by Nils Henrik Asheim.
