Agrarian Change
2015
Approximate room size: 200 m2
Built for the exhibition Point Voyeur at Hå Gamle Prestegard (NO).
The installation consists of:
a scenographical oil painting on plywood 7 m x 12 m x 2 m,
5 stagelights
a HD-video projection of Narcissus, with sound, 7 minutes.
a piece of steel from an old mine
a poster of Yosemite National Park
This installation was built for Hå Gamle Prestegard, a gallery situated at Jæren; an area with rich agricultural history. The work is an analysis of a painting by Bernhard Hinna of the landscape that surrounds the gallery anno 1900. The general use and look of this area has of course changed since then, but the old romantic idea of the bog fields and the hard labour of the farmer is still an intrinsic part of the cultural heritage of the people living here. At the opening of the exhibition Vibeke Stene came walking through the landscape in a national outfit while singing excerpts from Haugtussa by Arne Garborg.
